Sharing a Home, Sharing Life – Continued
Tim scheduled Barry’s initial “meet and greet” with the Nepal family in their home in mid-September of 2024. Everything went so smoothly that by September 30, Barry had moved in. Just five months later, Barry has settled into his new home nicely.
Diagnosed with Autism, intellectual disabilities and diabetes, Barry lived on his own in a supported living apartment for several years. He was eventually admitted to a nursing home when he could no longer manage his medications. Since moving in with the Nepals, he has experienced some meaningful health benefits. Formerly an insulin dependent diabetic who required a cane, Barry is now insulin free as well as free from his cane. Barry has lost over 10 pounds by using diet and exercise to control his diabetes. “Controlling the diabetes has me feeling a lot better.”
When asked what he likes most about Lifesharing, Barry was quick to reply, “I like being part of the family.”
